Beads for Life Tabling Event

This past Tuesday, November 20th, we held our tabling event benefiting Beads for Life, which helps raise women out of poverty. We couldn't have hoped for a better turnout, and we were amazed at the support we got from the students. We raised over $300 in donations!

After the event, however, we talked to a student supervisor who claimed that we were not allowed to solicit on campus, even though we were in a free-speech zone. It was hard for us to understand him simply because we were gathering donations for a charity and all the proceeds were being sent back to the women who had made the bead jewelry. Although this hurts our plans to sell beads in the future, we will not let this stop us from tabling once we are a registered student organization.

We are finishing the year strong with two more event next week! We will be hosting two sewing parties with Joanne and making dolls and hearts to send to Costa Rica as part of VUCF's Alternative Spring Break Program. Email us at dressedinhopeucf@gmail.com for more information.
